In all sections
- Only post an item you have the right to sell or rent. For jointly owned items or items owned by a finance company, obtain any required consents first.
- State any known faults, damage and deficiencies directly in the listing. The buyer may rely on undisclosed information even in a private sale.
- Use your own, recent photos. Manufacturer brochure images or another seller's photos are not acceptable. Landscape photos fit the listing card best.
- State the price as the total price. A price stated by a company must include taxes, and delivery or handling costs may not be added afterwards.
- Anyone selling in the course of business must use a business account so that the buyer can see that consumer protection applies to the transaction.
- Keep the discussion in Vaihtokaista messages and mark the item as sold or remove the listing when it is no longer available.
Vaihtomoto: motorcycles, mopeds, quad bikes and snowmobiles
- State the vehicle class and type (for example road-legal or off-road quad bike), engine capacity, power and mileage or operating hours.
- State the registration status and inspection. A vehicle that is unregistered or removed from road use must be stated clearly.
- Mention the power limit (A1 up to 11 kW, A2 up to 35 kW) and any modifications, such as a changed exhaust or tuning.
- For quad bikes and snowmobiles, state operating hours, the condition of the track or tyres, and equipment such as a winch and blade.
- Transfer of ownership is done as with cars: the buyer registers within seven days and the seller submits a transfer notification.
Vaihtovene: boats, personal watercraft and boat engines
- State the boat type and class, length, width, weight, hull material and year of manufacture.
- For the engine, state the make, power, type (outboard, inboard or sterndrive), model year and operating hours. A separate engine is sold in its own listing.
- A boat at least 5.5 metres long or a boat with engine power of at least 15 kW must be registered in the watercraft register. State the registration number and whether the boat is registered.
- Mention the trailer, cover, electronics and other equipment, and state which of them are included in the sale.
- State the storage location and when the boat can be seen in the water or on the hardstanding.
Vaihtokone: agricultural, forestry, earthmoving and work machinery
- State the type and section, make, model, model year, operating hours, weight and power.
- State whether the machine is registered (for example a tractor or lorry) and when it was inspected.
- When selling as a business, state whether the price includes VAT and whether it is deductible for the buyer. In Vaihtokone, you may also list machinery for rent.
- Mention the service history, any known faults and any additional equipment included, such as buckets, loaders and tracks.
- In the sale of hazardous machinery, state the CE marking and the availability of instructions for use.
Vaihtovaraosa: spare parts, tyres and accessories
- State which vehicle the part fits: make, model and model years. The part number helps the buyer confirm compatibility.
- State the condition honestly: new, used or refurbished, and describe any damage.
- Renkaissa kerro koko, urasyvyys, valmistusvuosi (DOT) ja määrä; vanteissa pulttijako, keskiöreikä ja offset.
- State the price per item or per set and whether delivery is possible.
- Spare parts cars and damaged cars are vehicles: an end-of-life vehicle may not be offered for anything other than proper reception.
Vaihtovuokra: spaces and items for rent
- State the price and pricing period (hour, day, weekend, week or month), minimum rental period, deposit and what is included in the price.
- For spaces, state the area, number of people, facilities (kitchen, WC, sound system) and rules, such as quiet hours and cleaning.
- For items, state the condition, accessories included, required driving licence and whether delivery is possible.
- Make the rental agreement in writing: parties, time, price, deposit, liability for damage and condition on return. Check the item's condition together at handover and return.
- The landlord is responsible for ensuring that the item is safe and permitted for use. Check whether your insurance covers rental use.
Vaihtokaravaani: motorhomes and caravans
- State the vehicle type and body type, sleeping places, number of registered seats, length, unladen weight and gross weight. Gross weight determines whether a B driving licence is enough (up to 3,500 kg).
- For a motorhome, state the chassis maker, engine, mileage, transmission and drive. For a caravan, say whether it has a 100 km/h approval.
- State the inspection, gas system inspection and moisture measurement, if one has been done. Moisture damage is the most common point of dispute.
- List the equipment, such as an awning, solar panel, heating system and bike rack.
- For a motorhome offered for hire, state the hire price by period, deposit, mileage limit and the insurance excess.
In brief
- Choose the right section and type so the listing can be found in search.
- Fill in the technical details and equipment: these are search criteria.
- State faults and registration status clearly.
- Add your own photos and total price.
- Agree the sale or hire in writing and keep messages in the service.
